Name: The Amateur Traveller

Length: About 30 mins

Subject: Travel guides

Website: http://amateurtraveler.com/

Music opening

There are changing photos on your iPod screen (I need to learn how to do this!)

The number episode is mentioned, a forward announcement of what the show will be about.

News stories that are related to travel.

Welcomes the guest and introduces them to the listeners.

There are several questions that get asked of almost every guest: Highlights? Weather? Overall itinerary? How much had you planned? Did the guide books miss anything? Most memorable person you met? Etc.

At the end there is often a voice mail or an email saying they love the show, or if they have any complaints or requests.

The host is quite conservative sounding at the beginning, I wasn’t sure I’d enjoy it. But he relaxed as he started chatting and you begin to get involved in the interview. It’s great to have advice from people who have seen the place they’re talking about, and give you their version of the must-sees.

The sort of podcast I’ll be listening to again. There is such an extensive archive of episodes that you can find out about most places you might want to visit one day.
