Making a website

In Honours blog on March 11, 2009 at 5:08 am

How hard is it to develop a website? Is this a viable Honours project. I’m leaning towards finding a hole online, and filling that with a specific website. Nothing huge, just something that addresses the needs of a group of people out there.

My brother gave me the advice when he found out I was doing Honours to keep it simple (stupid). Not to try and change the world with an over-the-top, unachievable project.

Wikipedia’s entry on niche markets, describes what I’m aiming for well. Specifically, “a niche market is addressing a need for a product or service that is not being addressed by mainstream providers”.

So what isn’t being addressed by mainstream providers? Brainstorm time!

  1. well simplest answer is something you already know a lot about, eg the transition from your undergrad to professional practice. if you’re serious about website then you do need a collaborator though. static websites are dead ducks these days.
